"Clean Mud" Soap Foam play

This past Sunday it was pretty rainy and chilly outside, which meant we were in need of something fun to do. I had seen this gorgeous rainbow soap foam pop up on my facebook wall earlier in the week and tucked it aside in my head as a must try.

This sensory play was super easy, fast to create, and fun for all!

The directions on the original post are pretty easy to follow, although somehow I managed to accidentally swap the measurements. Whoops!

So this is our ingredient list: 1/4 cup of liquid soap, 5-6 tablespoons of warm water, and food coloring. We used our sensitive skin shampoo and body wash just to make sure it didn't irritate the boys' skin. We also added a few drops of brown food coloring. We added both things to our mixer and whipped it on the highest speed possible for several minutes. When the bowl was full we dumped the foam, aka "clean mud" into our sensory tub.

Because we love mud and monster trucks, just like our Mud Season Monster Truck Bin, we added our monster trucks to the bin.

Everyone had to give the foam a feel. It was soft, fluffy, and cool to the touch. We did still need to watch Little Brother to make sure he didn't put the foam in his mouth, another reason we went with using a baby shampoo. After they drove the trucks through we added in some shovels and they buried the trucks in the mud. We played until the foam started to flatten out.

I can't believe we've never tried this before, or even knew about it before. It was such a great sensory play idea! We were so excited about it, we did post a quick picture on facebook. Have you found us there yet? It's a great way to keep up to date on our Kitchen Floor happenings!
